Overview:

Performix® created a flexible protective coating designed specifically for the foams and process being used by the manufacturer. The new coating provided a compliant, cost-effective coating alternative while surpassing previous solvent-based coating system in tensile, elongation and overall durability.

Challenge:

A new flexible protective coating was required that would not only meet the new environmental regulations but would also continue to meet customer expectations and requirements for performance. This new coating would also need to meet reasonable cost and manufacturing process perimeters.

Solution:

By working closely with an industry leader, Performix flexible protection foam coating technologies were developed specifically for the foams, process and end use of the product. Not only did the new flexible protective coatings provide a compliant, cost-effective coating alternative, but the overall coating performance surpassed the previous solvent-based coating system in tensile, elongation and overall durability. Although other specialty coating manufacturers attempted to develop a water base coating alternative, Performix was the only manufacturer to successfully market its coating.
