Overview:
Performix Coatings was approached by the global leaders in the industry over a period of years, looking for a range of unique, flexible coatings to protect foam paramedial absorbers. These absorbers are used inside anechoic chambers to absorb microwaves while testing everything from small electronics such as cell phones to fighter jets and nuclear-powered submarines.
Challenge:
Customers not only needed a protective coating, but one that didn’t interfere with the microwave absorbing properties of the foam absorbers and remained flexible long term while contained FOD (foreign objects and debris). Lastly, absorbers have traditionally been black in color making the inside of a large anechoic chamber a difficult environment to work in due to complete darkness inside the chamber. So, this unique application also needed to incorporate custom colors which added even more challenges.
Solution:
By working closely with our raw material suppliers, the global paramedial absorber and anechoic chamber manufacture’s, we leaned hard on our product development team with 120 years combined experience to solve this issue. Performix Coatings now offers a full range of specialty coatings used by all major manufacturers around the globe. We also offer custom color match services and custom formulating to better meet your process and performance requirements. Performix Coatings leads the way with the widest range of unique protective coatings for foam paramedial absorbers in the industry.
